letting go

interrupted hopes

unrealized dreams

the unrealistic expectations I put on others
(mainly my four-year old)

comparisons

guilt

emotional eating

failures

striving for the elusive "inner circle"

being easily frustrated

resentment

jealousy

my fat pants
(they're now just my pants)

insecurity

other people's expectations

These things can stay in 2010. I don't want them coming into the new year with me.

What about you? What do you need to let go of?

  1. - An interruption is temporary. Keep moving forward.
    - where a door closes...
    - (if this one works, can you tell me the secret?)
    - Why? Don't you always come out ahead? :-)
    - There's another kind of eating?
    - No such thing
    - You're already part of my 'inner circle'
    - margaritas help
    - margaritas help with this one too, actually
    - and this one. Wow, alcohol solves a lot of problems :-)
    - not so much this one, though. Um, remove the tags? I do that sometimes. Helps with the denial.
    - Why? You're perfect and your son is too.
    - Is this family related? Because we should have a margarita and talk if it is :-)

Love you! Hope you have a Happy NYE.

  2. I think you picked some excellent things to let go of. Easier said than done, I know, but you can do it. Here's to a great 2011!

  3. I relate to so many of these, so many. I really want to let go of some unhealthy dependencies.

  7. i keep starting to write a new years resolution post but then i don't publish it because truly? i sound totally crazy. not ha-ha crazy, like nutso crazy. so i guess letting go of the nutso crazy parts of my personality are on the list, though i am afraid to get more specific. ha. i identify with many of these, especially letting go of what other people think. it is such a handicap.

happy new year! maybe i'll go edit that post. :)

  8. I bet you sound less crazy than you think. I have a feeling if more people let go of what other people thought, we'd all sound a lot more "normal" because we'd admit to a lot of the same quirks.

If you do go back to edit that post, I'd love to read it!
Hope 2011 is full of wonderful things for you!
